Some of the greatest players that have ever stepped on the baseball diamond have worn the Yankee pin stripes. A total of forty-four Yankees have been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Let's go over some of the greatest moments in Yankee's history.

1. The team was founded in the year 1901 in Baltimore, Maryland.

2. They were first named as "New York Highlanders" before they changed their name to "Yankees" as.

3. Babe Ruth was one of the most popular players for the Yankees. Yankee Stadium is known as "The House that Ruth Built" due to his numerous achievements that brought the team to success.

4. Another Yankee great, Lou Gehrig, was diagnosed with a syndrome that affected his neuromuscular system. It soon became the reason for his retirement. During the beautiful day of July 4, 1939, he gave a speech that was unforgettable to the thousands of crowds that witnessed that event. On the second day of June in the year 1941, he died due to the disease.

5. Joe DiMaggio is one of the best players in Yankee history. DiMaggio famously got a hit in 56 straight games which is a record that still stands today.

6. Switch hitting Mickey Mantle was one of the best players that the team ever saw. As young as twenty-four years old, he was good enough to have a .353 batting average. He was most known for winning the Triple Crown.

7. Reggie Jackson hit three home runs in game 6 of the 1977 World Series which is considered by many to be one of the greatest games in baseball history.
